The City has recently changed the scoring procedure for clerical examinations. Applicants still have to take a Civil Service examination for some positions but the typing was reduced to 30 wpm. Also, the simulation portion of the exam is no longer pass fail (only the typing is pass fail).

This week’s additional positions:

Account Clerk
Clerical Assistant
Clerical Specialist
Laborer (NO Experience Needed)
Refuse Collection Loader (No CDL required- but must be obtained within six months)
Tree Pruner

A few key points:

- A driver's License is only required if the position requires driving.

- The City of Pittsburgh have banned the box- a record/conviction is only considered if it relates to the position you are applying for.

- Residency is sometimes required when applying, and always required if you are selected to fill a position. Once you are notified you have been selected and you pass the background portion then you can negotiate the amount of time you need to move (if applicable).
